Freda Fairchild, a multimedia artist who relocated from San Diego, CA. Her work is shown nationally and internationally and hangs in public and private collections in Japan and the USA. She works primarily in Printmaking and Fiber, frequently combining the two techniques. Printing on transparent silk or stitching on paper and gold foil. Metal and wood are also utilized in some of her three dimensional pieces. Pattern and texture are integral to her work and her viscosity etchings are rich with color and surface interest. Freda’s work, both abstract and figurative is based on exploration of relationships and culture. She used non-toxic methods of printmaking.

In 2001 she was one of the artists chosen by Judy Chicago to work with her on "The At Home Project" at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY.

Freda also does commissioned work and also teaches workshops on the non-toxic methods of printmaking. She recently completed a series of fabric art panels for Lourdes Chapel, the new chapel at Lourdes Hospital. The overall work is approximately 21ft by 7ft. For this work ("The Watered Garden") she used intaglio printing, relief printing and sumigashi to create patterns on fabric. These were then layered, embroidered, and quilted.
